Tax Senior Manager - Private Client Services
Location: Kalamazoo, MI
Overview
A large national CPA and advisory firm is seeking a Tax Senior Manager for its Private Client Services practice in Kalamazoo. The practice serves high-net-worth individuals, families, family offices and executives with complicated tax and financial structures across estate, income, gift and trust tax consulting and compliance, charitable giving, executive compensation and planning.
Responsibilities
- Manage tax and consulting engagements, identifying client needs and tax planning and consulting opportunities
- Act as primary client contact for preparation and presentation of issues and resolutions
- Review complex individual, trust, estate, S corporation, foundation, partnership and gift tax returns and provide feedback to preparers
- Direct communication with government agencies on matters of the highest complexity
- Identify technical issues, conduct advanced tax research and develop sound recommendations
- Prioritize and review work to keep engagements on track
- Support billing, recruiting and training responsibilities
- Supervise, train, schedule and provide performance feedback to associates and senior associates and act as their career advisor
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required (accounting, finance, economics or statistics preferred); master's in accountancy or taxation preferred
- 7+ years of experience in accounting, finance or law
- Experience in the private client services area required
- Prior supervisory experience required; public accounting experience preferred
- CPA, IRS Enrolled Agent or attorney required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat; experience with tax compliance and research software preferred
