About the Role:

Our client company is in need of an experienced Directional Drilling Foreman to lead field operations on their utility and heavy civil projects around Manhattan, KS. The right candidate will have hands-on experience with horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and a proven track record of managing crews safely and efficiently, keeping projects on schedule, and staying within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise directional drilling crews, including operators, locators, and laborers.
  • Oversee all phases of HDD operations, ensuring bore alignment, depth, and tolerances are met.
  • Monitor drilling fluids, equipment, and tooling to maintain production and safety standards.
  • Read and interpret project plans, bore paths, and profiles.
  • Troubleshoot drilling issues such as loss of circulation or steering challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, company policies, and project-specific safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors.
  • Maintain project documentation, daily logs, and production reports.
  • Train and mentor crew members to ensure proper techniques and safety practices.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of hands-on directional drilling experience in heavy civil or utility projects.
  • Previous foreman or crew lead experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, bore plans, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of drilling fluids, rigs, and tooling.
  • Commitment to safety and proven track record in maintaining safe job sites.
