Quality Inspector – CWI (Welding Focus) Location: Waukesha, WI Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 + Full Benefits

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional and layout inspections using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM)
  • Inspect welds and fabricated components to ensure compliance with codes, specifications, and quality standards
  • Conduct NDE inspections (VT, PT, MT, UT) as certified
  • Interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings with a high level of accuracy
  • Identify defects, non-conformances, and deviations in welding and fabrication
  • Document inspection results and maintain detailed quality records
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement
  • Provide guidance to operators on weld quality and visual acceptance standards

Required Qualifications

  • Current and VALID Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification – REQUIRED
  • Strong, recent hands-on experience inspecting welds in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • Minimum 2+ years in a quality inspection role
  • Proficient with precision measuring instruments
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols
  • Solid math skills (geometry, measurements, tolerances)
  • Comfortable working on the shop floor in a hands-on role

Preferred

  • Level II NDE certifications (VT, PT, MT, UT)
  • Experience with structural steel or heavy fabrication
  • CMM experience (operation/programming)
