Tax Manager (CPA) | Hybrid | $140K–$175K + Bonus + Profit Sharing

Gpac has partnered with a well-established, highly respected public accounting firm on Long Island seekinga Tax Manager to join their close-knit team.

With over 35 years in business, this firm is known for its low turnover, supportive leadership, and genuinely flexible, family-friendly culture. Due to recent retirement transitions, they are looking to bring on a seasoned tax professional who wants a long-term home with balance and stability.

What They Offer:

  • Hybrid schedule (3 days in-office, 2 remote)
  • Compensation: $120K–$165K + bonus + profit sharing
  • Paid overtime or comp time for hours worked over 40
  • Reduced off-season schedule (~35 hours/week)
  • Reasonable busy season (typically 45–60 hours/week)
  • Flexible environment, including split shifts for parents
  • Small firm feel with direct access to Partners
  • Long-term, stable team with minimal bureaucracy

What They Need:

This is a hands-on Tax Manager position responsible for both preparation and review of a wide variety of returns, along with mentoring junior staff and working directly with clients.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review tax returns including:
    • 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120, 1120S, 990PF
  • Manage client relationships and respond to tax inquiries
  • Review work of junior staff and provide guidance
  • Assist with IRS and state correspondence
  • Support workflow and team productivity during busy season

Who They’re Looking For

  • CPA / EA required
  • ~ 10 years of public accounting experience
  • Strong experience in both preparation and review
  • Prior experience supervising or mentoring staff
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid environment
  • Seeking a long-term, stable role in a collaborative firm
