Position Summary
This Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care within a cardiac/acute care setting. The RN performs comprehensive patient assessments, develops and implements individualized plans of care, and evaluates patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.
The RN administers medications and treatments as ordered by physicians and in alignment with current clinical nursing practice. This role also involves supervising and directing non-licensed personnel, collaborating with interdisciplinary team members, and ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient patient care delivery.
Patient safety and confidentiality are maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately as prescribed
- Document care thoroughly based on patient acuity and clinical standards
- Monitor, direct, and evaluate care provided by non-licensed personnel
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members
- Provide patient and family education related to cardiac care and procedures
- Apply critical thinking to anticipate patient needs and respond appropriately
- Ensure adherence to all hospital policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines
- Maintain a positive, professional communication style with staff, patients, and families
- Support laboratory responsibilities including specimen testing, quality control, and equipment maintenance as directed
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (state or compact license eligible)
- Minimum of 1 year of adult acute care experience preferred (cardiology/cardiovascular experience strongly preferred)
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills
Physical Requirements
- Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and reposition patients
- Ability to lift and carry equipment and supplies (minimum 50 lbs)
- Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination
