Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Equipment Superintendent to oversee and manage a fleet of heavy construction equipment used on large-scale civil construction projects. This role is responsible for ensuring equipment availability, coordinating maintenance and repairs, managing equipment logistics between job sites, and supporting field operations to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with heavy civil equipment such as excavators, dozers, graders, scrapers, loaders, cranes, and haul trucks, along with strong leadership and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the company’s fleet of heavy construction equipment across multiple job sites.

  • Coordinate equipment mobilization, demobilization, and transportation between projects.

  • Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules to maximize equipment uptime.

  • Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen to ensure proper equipment allocation based on project needs.

  • Supervise mechanics and maintenance personnel responsible for inspections, servicing, and repairs.

  • Track equipment usage, hours, and maintenance records.

  • Ensure all equipment meets safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance standards.

  • Assist with equipment procurement, rentals, and disposal decisions.

  • Manage vendor relationships for parts, service providers, and equipment suppliers.

  • Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Oversee equipment inspections and ensure documentation is properly maintained.

  • Support jobsite safety initiatives and ensure operators are trained and certified when required.
