Senior Transactional Real Estate Attorney – Distressed Debt & Workouts Location: New York, NY Job Type: Full-time Compensation: $270,000 – $300,000 per year

A premier full-service law firm based in New York City is seeking a dynamic, senior-level transactional real estate attorney to join its active and growing practice. This is an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated and business-savvy attorney with deep experience in distressed debt and workouts to take a leadership role within a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on complex real estate transactions involving distressed assets, including loan workouts, discounted payoffs (DPOs), and debt restructurings

  • Represent borrowers and lenders in negotiations with banks, CMBS lenders and servicers, non-bank lenders, and mezzanine loan providers

  • Counsel clients on debt and mezzanine loan foreclosures and other distressed asset strategies

  • Draft and negotiate a wide range of real estate and finance documents with precision and sophistication

  • Serve as a strategic advisor on high-stakes, market-moving deals

  • Manage multiple high-level matters simultaneously with minimal oversight

Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school

  • Active New York Bar admission

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in real estate transactions, with a strong emphasis on distressed debt and workouts

  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead and close complex transactions

  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills

  • Deep understanding of the New York commercial real estate market

  • Experience in debt and mezzanine foreclosures is highly desirable

  • Proactive, solutions-oriented approach and sound legal/business judgment
