Senior Transactional Real Estate Attorney – Distressed Debt & Workouts Location: New York, NY Job Type: Full-time Compensation: $270,000 – $300,000 per year
A premier full-service law firm based in New York City is seeking a dynamic, senior-level transactional real estate attorney to join its active and growing practice. This is an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated and business-savvy attorney with deep experience in distressed debt and workouts to take a leadership role within a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment.
Responsibilities:
Advise clients on complex real estate transactions involving distressed assets, including loan workouts, discounted payoffs (DPOs), and debt restructurings
Represent borrowers and lenders in negotiations with banks, CMBS lenders and servicers, non-bank lenders, and mezzanine loan providers
Counsel clients on debt and mezzanine loan foreclosures and other distressed asset strategies
Draft and negotiate a wide range of real estate and finance documents with precision and sophistication
Serve as a strategic advisor on high-stakes, market-moving deals
Manage multiple high-level matters simultaneously with minimal oversight
Qualifications:
J.D. from an accredited law school
Active New York Bar admission
10+ years of relevant experience in real estate transactions, with a strong emphasis on distressed debt and workouts
Demonstrated ability to independently lead and close complex transactions
Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
Deep understanding of the New York commercial real estate market
Experience in debt and mezzanine foreclosures is highly desirable
Proactive, solutions-oriented approach and sound legal/business judgment
