Project Manager / Estimator – Structural Steel
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Project Manager / Estimator to oversee structural steel fabrication and erection projects from estimating through project completion. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3+ years of experience managing structural steel projects, with additional experience strongly preferred. This position requires strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate estimates, proposals, and bid packages for structural steel fabrication and erection projects
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope and pricing
- Manage projects from award through completion, including scheduling, budgeting, subcontractor coordination, and client communication
- Coordinate with fabrication shops, field crews, vendors, and general contractors to ensure successful project execution
- Track project costs, change orders, and overall profitability
- Attend project meetings, site visits, and customer discussions as needed
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget
Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of experience managing structural steel fabrication and erection projects
- Experience with estimating and project management in the steel construction industry
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and specifications
- Strong understanding of fabrication, erection, and construction processes
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating/project management software preferred
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites as needed
