Bookkeeper / Accounting/Controller – Construction
We are working with a well-established construction company seeking a Bookkeeper / Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and support the financial performance of the organization.
About the Role:
This position will be responsible for managing full-cycle accounting functions within a construction environment, with a strong emphasis on job costing, payroll, and financial reporting. The role also includes supervising a small team and ensuring accurate and timely financial processes across multiple projects.
Supervise and support two accounting staff members
Oversee and process weekly payroll, including certified payroll reporting
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
Handle multi-state payroll tax filings (940, 941)
Perform monthly bank reconciliations
Prepare monthly financial statements (Balance Sheet & Profit & Loss)
Monitor and manage cash flow
Maintain general ledger and journal entries, including depreciation
Prepare Work in Progress (WIP) reports
Support annual workers’ comp and insurance audits
Track employee PTO (vacation/sick time)
Complete monthly sales tax / gross receipts reporting
5+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience in construction
Strong understanding of job costing and WIP reporting
Experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage projects
Experience with construction accounting software (Foundation preferred) is a plus
