Senior / Lead Welder
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior/Lead Welder to join our growing manufacturing team. This individual will serve as a technical leader on the shop floor, performing high-quality welding while mentoring team members, ensuring quality standards are met, and helping drive production efficiency. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with extensive fabrication experience and a commitment to safety and craftsmanship.
Responsibilities
- Perform MIG, TIG, and/or Flux-Core welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum components.
- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and welding symbols.
- Lead and support a team of welders by providing training, guidance, and technical expertise.
- Inspect weld quality and ensure finished products meet customer specifications and company quality standards.
- Troubleshoot welding and fabrication issues to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate workflow and prioritize jobs to meet production schedules.
- Assist with fixture setup, tooling, and process improvements.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and quality requirements.
- Work closely with supervisors, engineering, and quality teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional welding and fabrication experience.
- Previous experience leading or mentoring welders preferred.
- Strong blueprint reading and weld symbol interpretation skills.
- Experience welding structural steel, sheet metal, and custom fabrications.
- Ability to use measuring equipment including tape measures, calipers, squares, and gauges.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment.
- Welding certifications (AWS or equivalent) are a plus.
Preferred Experience
- Custom fabrication or job shop manufacturing.
- Fixture building and fabrication.
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
- Forklift and overhead crane operation.
