Accountant – Residential Construction & Development

Employment Type: Full-Time

Overview

A well-established residential construction and development organization in the Chicagoland area is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to support their growing finance team. This is a hands-on accounting role ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, project-driven environment and wants exposure to both corporate and project accounting functions.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and on time

• Assist with month-end close and reconciliations

• Prepare financial reports and support management with timely information

• Support job costing and tracking project financials

• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with company policies

• Collaborate with project managers and finance team to resolve accounting issues

• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation as needed

Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting experience, in construction, real estate, or related fields

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Viewpoint, Timberline, or similar)

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Good communication skills and ability to work across departments

• Knowledge of GAAP is a plus
