Job Description

A well-established and growing food distribution and processing company is seeking a Director of Purchasing to join their leadership team. This individual will report directly to executive leadership and oversee a team responsible for sourcing and supplier management.

This organization has a long-standing presence in the industry and is known for strong supplier partnerships, operational stability, and a collaborative culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team within the purchasing department

• Manage supplier relationships and negotiate purchasing agreements

• Source fresh products while maintaining strong partnerships with suppliers and growers

• Monitor market conditions and pricing trends to support strategic purchasing decisions

• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, sales, and leadership

• Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes and efficiencies

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive purchasing experience within the produce or fresh food industry

• Experience negotiating supplier agreements and managing vendor relationships

• Background sourcing perishable products and working with growers or producers

• Leadership or team management experience preferred

• Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills
