Terminal Operations Manager – Drayage & Container Yard

Location: Houston, TX (On-Site)
Compensation: $80,000–$90,000 base salary + performance bonus potential up to $75,000

We are seeking an experienced Terminal Operations Manager to lead day-to-day operations for a high-volume container yard and drayage operation in the Houston market. This role requires a hands-on operational leader with strong drayage sales experience, a deep understanding of container yard operations, and the ability to drive both performance and revenue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily terminal and container yard operations, including gate activity, yard flow, equipment utilization, and labor planning
  • Manage and optimize drayage operations to ensure on-time performance, safety, and cost control
  • Drive drayage sales growth by supporting customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and improving service offerings
  • Collaborate with customers, motor carriers, and internal teams to resolve operational challenges and improve service levels
  • Monitor KPIs related to productivity, dwell time, turn times, and profitability
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, terminal procedures, and company policies
  • Lead, train, and hold accountable terminal staff, drivers, and yard personnel
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and operational reporting

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing container yard and terminal operations
  • Strong background in drayage operations with demonstrated sales or business development exposure
  • Knowledge of port operations, chassis management, yard management systems, and gate processes
  • Ability to balance operational execution with revenue growth initiatives
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume logistics environment
  • Houston port market experience strongly preferred
