Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location: San Jose, CA
Salary: $120,000 – $200,000 annually + Full Benefits
Schedule: Full-Time | Senior Level | MEP Design-Build Environment

A well-established, full-service mechanical contractor based in Northern California is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their growing team. This firm is known for delivering high-performance HVAC and plumbing systems across complex commercial, institutional, and life sciences projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and coordination of mechanical systems on large-scale projects from schematic through construction phases

  • Collaborate closely with in-house design, construction, and project management teams

  • Oversee and contribute to the preparation of drawings, specifications, and submittals using Revit and AutoCAD

  • Coordinate with architectural and engineering disciplines to ensure fully integrated designs

  • Conduct site condition assessments and provide technical guidance during construction

  • Mentor and review the work of junior engineers and drafters

  • Support QA/QC processes to ensure accuracy, constructability, and code compliance


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical design for commercial or institutional buildings

  • Proven experience in HVAC and plumbing systems design for healthcare, laboratory, life sciences, or high-tech facilities

  • Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD

  • E.I.T. required; P.E. license preferred

  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to guide cross-functional teams

  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices
