Attorney Manager - Los Angeles

A premier law firm is seeking an experienced Unlawful Detainer Department Manager to lead its unlawful detainer operations at its Los Angeles office. This is a full-time, in-office role requiring deep subject-matter expertise and leadership skills. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of dedicated experience in unlawful detainer matters and be well-versed in Southern California rent stabilization and just cause eviction ordinances. The role includes department oversight, strategic legal direction, and occasional court appearances.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the unlawful detainer department, including trial, discovery, pleadings, and lockout teams
  • Supervise attorneys and legal staff across various stages of UD litigation
  • Ensure compliance with local rent stabilization and just cause eviction laws
  • Develop and implement procedures for efficient case handling and staff coordination
  • Provide legal strategy input and conduct occasional court appearances as needed
  • Liaise with firm leadership to align departmental goals with broader legal operations

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience handling unlawful detainer matters
  • Deep knowledge of Southern California rent control and eviction laws
  • Active California Bar license in good standing
  • Prior experience managing legal teams or departments
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced litigation environment
