We are actively seeking a skilled and dedicated Education Associate Attorney to join a well-established law firm with a strong reputation for excellence in school law. This in-office role is based in Pittsburgh, PA and offers a meaningful opportunity to work with school districts and educational institutions on a wide variety of legal issues.

MUST HAVE: Active PA License + 3–5 years of experience in Education Law


About the Role:

This role is perfect for an attorney who is passionate about supporting schools, educators, and students. Our Education Practice Group stays current on the latest developments in special education law, school board policy, compliance, and employment matters specific to educational institutions. Attorneys in this group act as trusted advisors, problem-solvers, and advocates.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day legal counsel to public school boards, administrators, and faculty
  • Advise clients on special education law (IDEA, Section 504) and student-related legal issues
  • Conduct reviews of internal processes and recommend best practices for special education services
  • Draft, review, and revise school board policies, contracts, employment agreements, and student discipline procedures
  • Represent school clients in hearings, due process proceedings, and administrative matters
  • Keep clients up to date with evolving laws and regulations affecting educational institutions
  • Collaborate with educators and staff to implement preventative strategies to minimize legal risk

Qualifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania (Active PA Bar – REQUIRED)
  • 3–5 years of legal experience in Education law & Special education
  • Strong knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and Title IX
  • Experience representing school districts, charter schools, or higher education clients
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work closely with clients and build strong professional relationships
  • Highly responsive, detail-oriented, and solution-driven
