Job Description: MEP Engineering Designer

Position Overview: As a Mid-Level MEP Engineering Designer, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of MEP systems for various projects across different industries. You will work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and other design professionals to create efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective MEP solutions that align with project goals and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the design and development of MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, for educational, municipal, multi-family and commercial projects.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to understand project objectives, scope, and technical requirements.
- Create detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and plans using AutoCAD or other design software, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Perform calculations and analysis related to MEP systems, such as load calculations, energy analysis, and equipment sizing.
- Contribute to the selection of appropriate equipment, materials, and components for MEP systems, considering efficiency, sustainability, and budget constraints.
- Assist in coordinating with architects, structural engineers, and other design disciplines to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems within overall project design.
- Participate in on-site visits to assess existing conditions and provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, advancements, and best practices in MEP design and engineering.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in MEP engineering design, preferably within an engineering consulting firm.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and other relevant design software.
- Licensed to practice Engineering in the State of Indiana, Illinois, Michigan or Ohio.
- 5 years of relevant engineering experience in either Mechanical/Plumbing Systems or Electrical Systems, preferably both.
- Capable of both conceptualizing a building’s Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Systems design and developing construction documents for its implementation.
- Ability to collaborate with others.
- Proficient in either Revit or AutoCAD.
- Experience with codes, standards, and handbooks relating to Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Systems.
