Senior Attorney Transportation, Logistics & Insurance Coverage
Our firm is a highly respected litigation and regulatory practice with deep expertise in transportation and logistics law, insurance coverage and defense, and corporate legal counseling. We represent a diverse client base that includes motor carriers, brokers, freight forwarders, logistics intermediaries, insurers, and other commercial clients in complex regulatory, contractual, and dispute matters.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Associate to join our team and take a leadership role across practice areas involving transportation, logistics, insurance coverage, and corporate legal work.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic legal counsel and representation in transportation and logistics matters, including freight loss and damage claims, intermediary defense, contractual liability, and industry disputes.
- Handle insurance coverage matters for commercial and transportation clients, including coverage analysis, declaratory judgment actions, and defense strategy development.
- Support corporate clients on transactional and advisory matters, including contract review and negotiation, compliance counseling, and risk assessment.
- Lead and manage litigation and alternative dispute resolution in federal and state courts.
- Mentor junior attorneys and help develop firm resources in emerging areas of practice.
- Engage directly with clients, industry partners, and regulatory bodies with professionalism and strategic insight.
- Contribute to business development and practice growth through client service excellence and thought leadership.
Ideal Skills & Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active Illinois bar license (or ability to waive in).
- 5+ years of substantive legal practice in transportation law, logistics, insurance coverage, and/or corporate counseling.
- Proven experience advising clients on complex transportation and logistics issues, including carriers, brokers, freight forwarders, and other industry stakeholders.
- Strong background in insurance coverage analysis and defense, including policy interpretation and strategy.
- Demonstrated ability to handle litigation, negotiations, and administrative hearings.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities and leading matters with minimal supervision.
Preferred Attributes
- Familiarity with transportation-related contractual frameworks (e.g., broker-carrier agreements, tariffs, terms of service).
- Experience with complex commercial litigation.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Enthusiasm for contributing to both legal strategy and practice growth.
