Senior Project & Preconstruction Manager – Design-Build (HVAC/Plumbing)

A well-established mechanical contractor in the Greater Milwaukee area is seeking a Senior Project & Preconstruction Manager to lead commercial and industrial HVAC and plumbing projects. This is a high-impact role with real long-term potential, created by a planned leadership transition.
The right candidate brings both technical expertise and leadership ability, and enjoys full-cycle ownership—from preconstruction to closeout. You’ll join a company with strong local roots, a stable pipeline of work, and a high-trust, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage mechanical (HVAC and/or plumbing) projects ranging from $50K to $3M+

Lead preconstruction efforts including design coordination, budgeting, and scope development

Oversee project execution: scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and field support

Build and maintain strong client relationships with an emphasis on repeat business

Collaborate directly with leadership on operations strategy and process improvement

Mentor junior team members and contribute to a culture of quality and accountability
Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of experience managing mechanical construction projects

Strong background in design-build or negotiated work
-
Hands-on experience with preconstruction, estimating, and design development

Proven ability to lead projects from inception through completion

Strong communication, coordination, and relationship-building skills

Based in, or open to relocating to, Southeastern Wisconsin (relocation support available)
