Remote Legal Assistant – Employment & Litigation (California)
Confidential Hiring Process
About the Opportunity:
A top-tier Los Angeles litigation firm is looking for a Remote Legal Assistant / Legal Secretary to support a fast-paced desk shared by four litigation attorneys. This full-time role offers a rare balance: high-level litigation work with a strong emphasis on long-term stability and culture. You’ll be covering a 50/50 mix of employment defense and general litigation, and while you'll start in-office, this transitions to a hybrid setup with just one in-office day per week.
The firm has earned its reputation for legal excellence, trial strength, and collaborative teams. It was also recently named one of the Top 25 Labor & Employment Practices in Los Angeles by the LA Times.
Why This Role Stands Out:
• Join a tight-knit, respected litigation team
• Initial 2–3 weeks fully in-office (DTLA or Manhattan Beach), then hybrid (1 day/week in-office)
• No micromanagement — your initiative and organization will be appreciated
What You’ll Be Doing:
• Draft and format pleadings, discovery, and legal correspondence
• File documents in California state and federal courts using e-filing systems
• Build and format tables of contents and authorities
• Manage deadlines and maintain a litigation calendar with docketing software
• Serve as point of contact for internal attorneys, court staff, clients, and opposing counsel
What You Bring to the Table:
• 3–5 years of legal assistant or legal secretary experience, primarily in litigation
• Background in employment defense and/or general litigation
• Experience with California state and federal court e-filings
• Familiarity with legal calendaring software and MS Office
• Solid formatting skills (TOCs, TOAs, etc.)
Compensation & Perks:
• Competitive salary based on experience
• HMO medical plan 100% covered by the firm
• PPO and dental upgrade options (firm pays base, employee pays the difference)
• 401(k) with a 5% firm contribution
• Paid parking when in-office
• 2 weeks of vacation, increasing to 3 weeks after 5 years
Who This Role Is Great For:
• Someone who thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment but values work-life stability
• A detail-oriented legal assistant who wants to be part of a respected, long-term team
• A candidate who can hit the ground running after onboarding and doesn’t need hand-holding
• Someone who prefers autonomy, accountability, and a low-drama work culture
