Tax Manager | Northern California | $140K-$160K

Join a prestigious accounting firm established in 40 years ago and recognized as a Best Accounting/CPA Firm for five consecutive years! This growing practice with deep roots in the community is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to help lead their team in beautiful Marin County.

The Opportunity

This hybrid position offers the perfect blend of leadership and flexibility:

  • 3 days onsite / 2 days remote
  • 40-hour workweeks outside of tax season
  • Reasonable 50-55 hour workweeks during tax season
  • Fridays off throughout July

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex tax engagements for small businesses and high-net-worth individuals
  • Review tax returns prepared by staff and provide guidance
  • Develop tax planning strategies and conduct research
  • Maintain client relationships and serve as a primary contact
  • Mentor and supervise staff members while fostering professional development
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of public accounting experience with focus on tax services
  • Demonstrated experience serving small business clients and individual returns
  • EA or CPA preferred (not required)
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Excellent work ethic and attention to detail
  • Ability to mentor junior staff and build client relationships

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000 per year
  • Annual Bonus: Negotiable
  • Vacation: Minimum three weeks (negotiable based on experience)
  • Additional Time Off: Five extra days annually plus Fridays off in July
  • Healthcare: Company-paid premiums for health and dental with minimal out-of-pocket costs
  • Retirement Plans: 3% safe harbor (no employee contribution required) OR 2% profit-sharing plan matched up to 5%
