Senior Tax Preparer | Northern California | $125K-$145K

Our client, a prestigious accounting firm established 40 years ago and recognized as a Best Accounting/CPA Firm for five consecutive years, is seeking a Senior Tax Preparer to join their growing team. With deep community roots, this firm offers stability, advancement opportunities, and an exceptional work environment in beautiful Marin County.

The Opportunity

This hybrid position offers the perfect blend of collaboration and flexibility:

  • 3 days onsite / 2 days remote
  • 40-hour workweeks outside of tax season
  • Reasonable 50-55 hour workweeks during tax season
  • Fridays off throughout July

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review tax returns for small businesses and individuals
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • Conduct tax research and planning strategies
  • Assist with special projects as needed
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of public accounting experience with focus on tax preparation
  • Experience with small business clients and individual returns
  • EA or CPA preferred (not required)
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated professional with positive attitude
  • Team player who adapts well to different working styles

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $125,000 - $145,000 per year
  • Annual Bonus: Negotiatable
  • Vacation: Minimum three weeks (based on experience)
  • Additional Time Off: Five extra days annually plus Fridays off in July
  • Healthcare: Company-paid premiums for health and dental with minimal out-of-pocket costs
  • Retirement Plans: 3% safe harbor (no employee contribution required) OR 2% profit-sharing plan matched up to 5%
