A well-capitalized community bank with a multi-branch presence in central Illinois is seeking a Vice President of Commercial Lending to expand its commercial banking presence in the Champaign/Bloomington market. This is a leadership-focused role, not a producer-only position, for an experienced commercial lender who can drive growth while maintaining strong credit discipline.
The VP of Commercial Lending will originate, structure, underwrite, and manage commercial loans while partnering closely with senior leadership to grow commercial and deposit relationships. This role carries meaningful lending authority and market visibility and requires active engagement in the local business community. Position is 100% onsite.
Originate and manage C&I and owner-occupied CRE loans
Build and grow commercial and small-business relationships
Maintain asset quality through disciplined underwriting and portfolio oversight
Partner with leadership to support deposit growth
Participate in loan committee and collaborate with credit and operations
Represent the bank in community and business development activities
7+ years of commercial or business lending experience
Strong underwriting and credit analysis skills
Experience managing a commercial loan portfolio
Relationship-driven community banking mindset
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
Base Salary: Up to $145,000, commensurate with experience and portfolio scope
Incentive Compensation: Performance-based bonus opportunity
