Our Client, known for delivering some of the most recognizable structures on the East Coast, is seeking a seasoned Estimating Manager to lead their structural steel estimating team.
About the Role:
The Estimating Manager will oversee the estimating department and lead the preparation of budgets and cost estimates for large-scale structural steel projects. This role requires strong technical expertise, proven leadership experience, and the ability to manage and develop a high-performing team. Reporting directly to company leadership, the Estimating Manager ensures consistent implementation of estimating procedures to deliver accurate and competitive proposals for both Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build/Assist projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and develop the estimating team.
Oversee preparation of conceptual budgets with limited information ($/SF, $/Ton, etc.).
Review drawings, specifications, and schedules to ensure scope accuracy.
Ensure accurate material takeoffs.
Manage and review specialty contractor bids (detailing, freight, joists, decking, misc. metals, grating, etc.).
Identify risks and design challenges.
Develop detailed cost recaps and bid summaries.
Partner with Sales to prepare complete proposals with clarifications and exclusions.
Support smooth project handoff from Sales to Operations.
Qualifications:
7+ years of estimating experience in structural steel or related construction.
Prior leadership or management experience required.
Proficiency with BlueBeam, Tekla Power Fab Suite, and Tekla Models.
Strong analytical, mathematical, and computer skills.
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Teams, Word).
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Compensation & Benefits:
$100,000 – $150,000, commensurate with experience.
