Position Summary: We are seeking a Structural Design Engineer experienced in pre-engineered metal buildings and structural steel design. This role involves performing structural analysis, designing metal building components, and collaborating with drafting, project management, manufacturing, and sales teams. The ideal candidate will ensure cost-effective, code-compliant, and constructible designs while supporting detailing and fabrication processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural design and analysis of metal building frames, secondary framing, and connections using software such as MBS, AutoCAD, Tekla, and SkyCiv.

  • Create or review detailed fabrication drawings from architectural and structural plans, ensuring adherence to AISC steel construction detailing standards.

  • Collaborate with drafting/detailing teams to accurately convey engineering intent in shop drawings and erection plans.

  • Provide technical support to project managers, sales teams, and field service personnel.

  • Ensure all designs meet relevant building codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, AISI, MBMA).

  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement related to design and detailing.

  • Stay current on industry best practices and software advancements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience in structural engineering, with preference for PEMB and steel detailing.

  • Proficiency in structural analysis and metal building design software (MBS, AutoCAD, Tekla, SolidWorks)

  • Strong understanding of steel design principles, load paths, and connection detailing.

  • Familiarity with AISC detailing standards and steel construction guidelines is a plus.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
