Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer to join our team in San Diego, California. This role involves designing fire sprinkler systems for a wide range of commercial, residential, and industrial projects in compliance with applicable codes and project specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience with AutoCAD, HydraCAD, and a strong knowledge of NFPA standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design fire sprinkler systems in compliance with NFPA 13, 14, 20, 25, and 72
  • Prepare system layouts, calculations, and hydraulic modeling using industry-standard software (HydraCAD, AutoCAD, or Revit)
  • Generate material lists, fabrication reports, and submittal packages
  • Coordinate design with architects, engineers, contractors, and AHJs
  • Review and revise drawings to meet project changes and code updates
  • Provide support to project managers, field personnel, and inspection teams
  • Ensure designs meet local, state, and federal code requirements

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of fire sprinkler design experience
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; experience with HydraCAD or Revit is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA codes, particularly NFPA 13
  • Ability to read blueprints, construction documents, and technical specs
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NICET Water-Based Systems Layout – Bonus but not required
  • Familiarity with California state fire protection regulations
  • Experience with BIM coordination and clash detection
