Senior Project Manager – Heavy Civil Construction
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee large-scale heavy civil construction projects including roadway, bridge, and civil sitework projects. This leadership role will be responsible for managing projects from preconstruction through closeout while ensuring safety, schedule, quality, and financial performance.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing complex civil projects involving earthwork, underground utilities, drainage systems, paving, concrete structures, and bridge construction.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all phases of heavy civil construction projects from award through completion
- Manage project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client relationships
- Coordinate field operations with Superintendents, Engineers, and subcontractors
- Review project plans, specifications, contracts, and estimates
- Lead project meetings and maintain communication with owners, inspectors, and stakeholders
- Monitor project costs, change orders, forecasting, and overall profitability
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and in accordance with quality standards
- Support procurement, staffing, and project planning efforts
- Mentor and develop Project Engineers and junior Project Managers
Qualifications
- 8+ years of heavy civil construction project management experience
- Strong background managing roadway, bridge, and civil infrastructure projects
- Experience with earthworks, utilities, drainage, paving, and concrete structures
- Ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously
- Strong knowledge of project scheduling, cost control, and contract administration
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Experience working with DOT, municipal, or public infrastructure projects is highly preferred
