Insurance Defense Attorney

Pittsburgh, PA (Hybrid)

3+ Years Experience Civil Litigation / Insurance Defense

Overview: A well-established Pittsburgh law firm is seeking an Insurance Defense Attorney to join its expanding litigation team. This role offers a stable platform, sophisticated casework, and flexibility regarding annual billable-hour expectations and compensation structuring. Candidates from mid-level (3–6 years) to senior-level (7–10+ years) civil litigators are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee civil litigation and insurance defense files independently or collaboratively from inception through resolution.

• Draft pleadings, motions, and briefs; attend court hearings, conferences, mediations, and trials.

• Formulate discovery strategies, conduct and defend depositions, and handle complex case development.

• Maintain direct contact with insurance carriers, individual clients, and opposing counsel.

• Evaluate case liability/exposure, develop settlement strategies, and assist with trial preparation.

Qualifications

• Active admission to the Pennsylvania Bar in good standing (Required).

• 3+ years of civil litigation experience, with strong preference for prior insurance defense work.

• Excellent legal research, written composition, and oral argument capabilities.

• Proven ability to manage multiple litigation deadlines, conduct depositions, and handle court appearances autonomously.

Compensation & Work Culture

• Billable-hour 1800-2000.
