Senior Project Manager – Heavy Construction Engineering
Location: Office-based with occasional travel to project sites (Remote work negotiable based on proximity)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with a strong background in heavy construction engineering to lead the technical planning, coordination, and execution oversight of complex civil infrastructure projects. This role focuses on engineering integration, design management, and ensuring technical compliance across all project phases. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of heavy civil systems—such as bridges, rail infrastructure, and earthworks—and guide multidisciplinary teams to deliver technically sound, cost-effective, and timely solutions.
Manage all engineering-related aspects of major infrastructure projects from pre-construction through closeout
Serve as the primary technical liaison between the company, clients, and engineering consultants
Oversee and review design deliverables for constructability, code compliance, and alignment with project goals
Develop and manage engineering scopes, schedules, and budgets in coordination with project controls teams
Coordinate with construction managers, field engineers, and subcontractors to ensure technical plans are executed accurately
Lead technical review meetings and interface with regulatory agencies and permitting authorities as needed
Support value engineering efforts and propose innovative design solutions to optimize construction methods and materials
Oversee change management from a technical perspective, including design modifications and engineering change orders
Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and technical staff
Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and compliance with applicable engineering standards and client requirements
10+ years of progressive experience in engineering management for heavy civil infrastructure projects
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering (required)
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (strongly preferred or ability to obtain)
Proven experience in bridge, rail, and/or transportation-related infrastructure (Class 1 railroad experience a plus)
Strong understanding of design codes, construction practices, and project delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, etc.)
Excellent leadership, technical communication, and project coordination skills
Ability to interpret complex technical documents, drawings, and specifications
Willingness to travel occasionally to job sites or client meetings as necessary
Primarily office-based, with periodic travel to project sites and client offices
Occasional exposure to construction environments including uneven terrain, elevated work areas, and active job sites
Competitive salary: $200,000 – $250,000 (based on experience)
