Position Overview:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all products meet customer, drawing, and specification requirements. This role focuses on driving quality improvements both within the company and across the customer and supplier base. Leveraging their experience and expertise in manufacturing, the Quality Engineer will identify and mitigate risks, resolve issues, and develop and implement strategies to meet both operational and customer demands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply knowledge of manufacturing, materials, special processes, and inspection to effectively carry out advanced product quality planning.
- Create Material Review Board documentation, including writing rework and repair procedures, and recommend solutions.
- Address and resolve customer complaints or nonconformances identified by customers. Investigate nonconformances and ensure the completion of Root Cause/Corrective Actions.
- Ensure compliance with quality system standards and effectively communicate requirements and changes to relevant personnel.
- Collaborate with the supply base to ensure adherence to all drawing and specification requirements. Coordinate training on supplier quality and manufacturing specifications.
- Monitor and manage supplier quality performance.
- Review customer contracts to ensure that applicable quality requirements are communicated to the supply base.
- Work with various departments to ensure adherence to all import and export laws and regulations.
- Perform other duties and manage specific projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
- Associate or bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering, or 5 years of related experience in quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, or process engineering.
Work Experience:
- Proven experience in applying technical knowledge, manufacturing principles, and measurement methodologies to prevent quality defects.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement programs.
- Experience in a quality improvement role.
Job-Specific Skills:
- Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, and interpreting specifications.
- In-depth knowledge of Manufacturing and Quality Operations.
- Ability to analyze problems, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
- High level of personal accountability, initiative, and leadership.
- Meticulous attention to detail, highly organized, and accurate.
- Ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities efficiently and effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications – Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Six Sigma training or equivalent quality training.
- Lead auditor certification (e.g., AS9100, ISO9001, ISO 13485) or auditing experience.
