Construction & Insurance Defense Attorney

A well-established civil litigation practice is seeking an experienced attorney to join its growing defense team.

The practice has a strong concentration in construction litigation and premises liability, while also handling a broader range of insurance defense and complex civil litigation matters.

We are particularly interested in attorneys with construction or premises liability experience, but strong insurance defense litigators from broader backgrounds are absolutely encouraged to apply.

The Practice

• Construction defect and construction-related litigation
• Premises liability
• General liability
• Personal injury defense
• Bodily injury and property damage claims
• Other complex civil and insurance defense matters

The firm represents contractors, businesses, insurers, property owners, and other commercial clients.

The Role

This is a substantive litigation position involving matters from inception through resolution or trial.

• Developing case strategy and evaluating liability and exposure
• Managing written discovery
• Taking and defending depositions
• Drafting and arguing motions
• Attending court appearances and mediations
• Communicating directly with clients and insurance carriers
• Preparing cases for trial
• Independently managing an active litigation caseload

What We're Looking For

• Several years of meaningful civil litigation experience
• Illinois Bar admission
• Construction litigation and/or premises liability experience strongly preferred
• Broader insurance defense experience is highly relevant
• Strong writing, analytical, deposition, and courtroom skills
• Ability to independently manage cases and deadlines
• Trial experience is a plus
