Civil Litigation Attorney

Chicago and/or Arlington Heights: Hybrid | 1,600–1,700 Billable Hours

A well-established Northwest Suburban law firm is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Attorney to join a diverse and sophisticated litigation practice. The primary need is for a strong civil litigator who can independently manage cases, handle substantive litigation responsibilities, and work directly with an experienced senior attorney whose practice spans a wide variety of complex matters.

Real estate and property-related litigation experience is particularly attractive, but it is not required. The firm is open to accomplished litigators from a variety of civil and commercial backgrounds.

The Practice

Depending on background and caseload, matters may involve:

• Real estate and property disputes
• Commercial and business litigation
• Contract disputes
• Professional liability
• Wrongful death and other complex tort matters
• Nursing home litigation
• Liens, collections, and related business disputes
• Arbitration, mediation, and courtroom proceedings

The firm maintains a broad, multi-faceted practice, making this an excellent opportunity for an attorney who wants to expand their litigation experience rather than become confined to one narrow case type.

Responsibilities

• Manage civil litigation matters from inception through resolution
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and substantive filings
• Handle written discovery
• Take and defend depositions
• Develop case strategy and evaluate claims
• Attend court appearances, hearings, mediations, and arbitrations
• Communicate directly with clients and opposing counsel
• Prepare matters for trial
• Independently manage assigned cases while collaborating closely with senior attorneys

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3+ years of substantive civil litigation experience
• Illinois Bar admission
• Real estate litigation experience is strongly valued
• Commercial, business, professional liability, or other complex civil litigation experience is also highly relevant
• Strong research, writing, discovery, deposition, and motion practice skills
• Ability to independently manage cases and deadlines
• Cook County and/or suburban Illinois litigation experience is a plus

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive base salary based on experience
