Job Description

We are partnered with a firm seeking an experienced Environmental Attorney with at least five years of practice to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will have significant experience advising clients on a wide range of environmental matters and representing them before regulatory agencies and in litigation. This role requires excellent analytical skills, a practical approach to complex legal issues, and a strong interest in shaping environmental policy and compliance strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including but not limited to the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, CERCLA, RCRA, NEPA, and CEQA
  • Assist with environmental aspects of corporate and real estate transactions, including due diligence and risk assessment
  • Represent clients in administrative proceedings, enforcement actions, and litigation
  • Draft and negotiate environmental provisions in commercial agreements
  • Engage with environmental agencies and stakeholders on permitting, compliance, and enforcement issues
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assist clients in implementing proactive compliance strategies

Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in Ohio
  • Minimum 5 years of experience practicing environmental law, preferably at a law firm or relevant in-house or governmental position
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state environmental statutes and regulatory schemes
  • Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with environmental litigation, administrative hearings, and/or transactional support is a plus
