Insurance Defense Attorney

Chicago, Illinois | Hybrid Flexibility Available

An established law firm in Chicago is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join its growing litigation team. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney who enjoys handling complex civil litigation matters, working directly with clients, and managing cases with increasing independence.

The firm represents insurers, businesses, and professionals in a broad range of litigation matters and offers a collaborative environment with strong support, meaningful case responsibility, and long-term growth potential.

Responsibilities

  • Manage insurance defense litigation matters from inception through resolution
  • Handle all aspects of discovery, including written discovery, depositions, and motion practice
  • Attend court appearances, hearings, mediations, and arbitrations
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda
  • Communicate directly with clients, carriers, opposing counsel, and experts
  • Participate in case strategy, evaluation, and reporting
  • Assist with trial preparation and trial work as needed

Qualifications

  • 3–6+ years of insurance defense or civil litigation experience
  • Greater experience encouraged to apply, position(s) and base compensation will reflect accordingly.
  • Active Illinois Bar license in good standing
  • Strong writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
  • Experience handling depositions and court appearances independently preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment
  • Professionalism, responsiveness, and strong attention to detail

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas is welcomed, but not required:

  • General liability
  • Premises liability
  • Construction litigation
  • Transportation/trucking litigation
  • Professional liability
  • Coverage-related matters
