Controller – Commercial Construction | Phoenix Metro, AZ
A growing commercial construction company is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead its accounting function and provide clear financial insight to company leadership. The ideal candidate has construction accounting experience and can manage work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and job financials in Foundation Software.
What you’ll do
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and maintain accurate financial records
Manage month-end close and prepare timely financial reports
Prepare and review WIP schedules, job cost reports, and project financial results
Monitor project costs, margins, cash flow, and budget performance
Partner with project and company leadership to identify financial trends and address variances
Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
Maintain accounting procedures and internal controls
Coordinate with outside accounting and tax professionals as needed
What we’re looking for
Experience as a Controller or senior accounting leader in a construction company
Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing WIP schedules
Experience with Foundation Software
Strong knowledge of construction accounting and job costing
Able to communicate financial information clearly to both accounting and operations teams
Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a hands-on environment
Compensation and benefits
Base salary up to $155,000, depending on experience
