Job Description

Build a Career With Real Leadership Opportunity

Tax Manager / Future Tax Leader

Stamford, CT | Hybrid Flexibility | Growth-Focused CPA Firm

The best tax professionals aren’t looking for “just another busy season.”

They want:

  • A firm where their voice matters
  • Leadership that invests in people
  • Challenging, sophisticated client work
  • A clear path for long-term growth
  • And the opportunity to eventually help shape the future of the firm

That’s exactly what this opportunity offers.

A highly respected and growing CPA firm in the Stamford market is looking for a strong generalist tax professional — someone who enjoys variety, values client relationships, and wants to grow into a key leadership role over time.

This is an ideal opportunity for either:

  • An experienced Tax Manager ready for more influence and autonomy
  • Or a high-performing Senior Tax Associate looking to take the next major step in their career

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

This isn’t a “plug-and-play” tax role where you’re expected to grind through returns forever.

The firm is intentionally looking for someone they can invest in long term — a future leader who wants to help mentor staff, strengthen client relationships, contribute ideas, and eventually play a larger role in firm strategy and growth.

You’ll work directly with leadership, gain exposure to a diverse client base, and have the ability to grow far beyond compliance work alone.

The Work

This role offers the variety and complexity strong tax generalists actually enjoy.

You’ll work with a broad mix of:

  • Privately held businesses
  • Pass-through entities
  • High-net-worth individuals
  • Partnerships and corporations
  • Real estate and investment-related clients

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing and reviewing tax engagements
  • Delivering strategic tax planning and advisory services
  • Researching and resolving complex tax matters
  • Building long-term client relationships
  • Mentoring and developing junior staff
  • Contributing to process improvement and firm growth initiatives

Who They’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is technically strong, relationship-oriented, and motivated by long-term growth rather than short-term titles.

Qualifications:

  • CPA license required
  • 5+ years of public accounting tax experience
  • Strong generalist background across entity types
  • Experience reviewing returns and interacting directly with clients
  • Desire to mentor, lead, and continue growing professionally
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Experience with real estate, HNW, partnerships, or closely held businesses is highly valued.

What You’ll Get

Compensation & Benefits

  • $135,000 – $160,000 base salary DOE
  • 100% employer-paid healthcare
  • Generous PTO
  • Hybrid flexibility
  • Strong work-life balance compared to larger firms
  • Clear advancement opportunities

The Bigger Picture

This firm genuinely values retention, development, and promoting from within. They’re not looking to fill a seat — they’re looking to hire someone who could become an integral part of the firm’s future leadership team.

If you’re a strong tax professional who wants more than just another compliance-heavy role, this could be the career move that changes your trajectory.
