Job Description

An established general contractor with a track record of success in public-sector building is adding a Commercial Estimator to its team. This is a long-term opportunity with a company that values quality and employee growth.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in preconstruction and cost estimation, particularly in commercial or public-sector construction. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity with excellent growth potential and a strong team culture.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope and cost.

  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop accurate estimates for labor, materials, and equipment.

  • Lead bid preparation efforts for negotiated and hard-bid projects.

  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors during the preconstruction phase.

  • Solicit pricing from subcontractors and suppliers; evaluate proposals for accuracy and completeness.

  • Maintain detailed records of cost data and historical pricing for future reference.

  • Recommend value engineering options and assist in scope development where needed.

  • Support procurement efforts and post-bid follow-ups such as change orders and estimate revisions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
    (or equivalent field experience)

  • 4+ years of relevant estimating experience in commercial or municipal construction

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, OST, Sage Estimating)

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and market pricing

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple estimates on tight deadlines with accuracy and professionalism
