Commercial Bankruptcy Attorney – North Carolina (Remote Option Available)

A well-respected business law firm in North Carolina is seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Attorney to join its growing bankruptcy practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a Bankruptcy Attorney looking to take on sophisticated, varied casework within a collegial, team-oriented environment — without the bureaucracy of a larger firm.

About the Role
The ideal Bankruptcy Attorney will bring at least four years of corporate bankruptcy experience, strong academic credentials, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. This Bankruptcy Attorney position offers exposure to Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 12 matters, representing both debtors and creditors, along with mass tort bankruptcy litigation work.

Location
Raleigh or Winston-Salem, North Carolina — with a fully remote option available for the right Bankruptcy Attorney candidate.

Responsibilities

• Represent debtors and creditors in corporate restructurings, workouts, distressed asset and debt acquisitions, insolvency, and bankruptcy proceedings (Chapter 7, 11, and 12)
• Handle adversary proceedings for plaintiffs and defendants
• Represent creditors' committees, individual creditors, trustees, and receivers
• Manage all aspects of discovery from start to finish
• Draft and file pleadings and briefs
• Research and interpret bankruptcy law and regulatory developments at the state and national level
• Support the firm's mass tort bankruptcy litigation team
• Assist partners with research and drafting for manuscripts and presentations
• Delegate to paralegals and support staff as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum of four years of bankruptcy experience
• Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school; bankruptcy or litigation emphasis preferred
• Admitted to practice in North Carolina, or willing to obtain admission
• Excellent legal research, writing, and verbal communication skills
• Strong academic credentials
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
• Creative problem-solving skills
• Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities autonomously
• Collaborative team player
• Bankruptcy Court or federal District Court clerkship a plus
