Federal Quality Control Manager
Overview
A growing construction organization is seeking an experienced Federal Quality Control Manager to oversee quality assurance and compliance on federal construction projects.
This role is responsible for implementing and managing project-specific quality control programs, ensuring all work meets contract requirements, regulatory standards, and client expectations. The ideal candidate brings strong field experience, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control & Compliance
- Develop and implement site-specific Quality Control Plans (QCP) in accordance with contract requirements
- Enforce compliance with federal standards, building codes, and project specifications
- Perform and document the three phases of control: preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspections
- Conduct final inspections and support project closeout activities
Project Coordination
- Collaborate with field and project management teams to ensure quality standards are met throughout construction
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors to maintain compliance and schedule adherence
- Participate in preparatory meetings and weekly subcontractor coordination meetings
Inspections & Documentation
- Inspect materials upon delivery for compliance, completeness, and condition
- Coordinate and document all required testing and inspections
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, deficiencies, and corrective actions
- Track and manage punch lists, submittals, and RFIs in collaboration with the project team
Issue Resolution
- Identify quality issues and ensure timely corrective action
- Support documentation and resolution of deficiencies in workmanship and materials
- Assist with project closeout documentation and warranty turnover
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience in federal construction projects
- Strong understanding of federal construction standards, codes, and quality control processes
- Experience managing Quality Control Plans (QCP) on active job sites
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Skills & Competencies
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Experience with construction management and project management software
- Working knowledge of construction means and methods across multiple trades
- Familiarity with Lean construction principles is a plus
Work Environment
- Primarily based on active construction job sites
- Requires regular interaction with field teams, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
