Project Manager – Commercial Construction

Central Iowa

A well-established Central Iowa contractor is looking to add an experienced Project Manager to its team. This position will oversee projects from preconstruction through completion, with responsibility for budget, schedule, contracts, quality, safety, and client satisfaction.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced PM who enjoys taking ownership of projects, working closely with field teams, and being involved early in the planning and preconstruction process.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.

• Oversee project budgets, schedules, contracts, change orders, and overall financial performance.

• Provide input during design regarding cost, scheduling, constructability, and value engineering.

• Develop conceptual estimates, bid packages, scopes of work, and preliminary project schedules.

• Coordinate bid solicitation and subcontractor/vendor involvement.

• Build strong working relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and field teams.

• Lead project scheduling and overall project coordination.

• Manage RFIs, submittals, payment applications, change orders, and other project documentation.

• Lead owner/design team progress meetings and provide regular project updates.

• Work closely with Superintendents and field leadership to proactively resolve project challenges.

• Mentor and support the development of project team members.

• Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to established quality standards.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of construction management experience.

• Commercial construction experience strongly preferred.

• Degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent industry experience considered.

• Strong understanding of preconstruction, estimating, scheduling, project controls, and contract administration.

• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
