An established regional litigation firm is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join its Northern New Jersey practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with a strong background in general liability, premises liability, casualty defense, or related civil litigation who is looking for meaningful case responsibility and the opportunity to continue developing a long-term litigation practice.
The attorney will handle a diverse caseload involving insurance defense and civil litigation matters, with a significant focus on premises liability and general liability claims.
Manage insurance defense and general liability matters from inception through resolution
Handle premises liability, slip-and-fall and related casualty matters
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery and other litigation documents
Conduct and defend depositions
Evaluate liability, damages, exposure and settlement considerations
Communicate with clients, claims professionals, opposing counsel and other parties
Participate in mediations, settlement negotiations and court appearances
Develop litigation strategy and independently manage case deadlines
Work collaboratively with experienced attorneys and legal professionals
Several years of experience handling insurance defense, general liability or civil litigation matters
Significant experience with premises liability and/or slip-and-fall defense
Active New Jersey Bar admission
Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload
Experience handling depositions, negotiations and court appearances
Strong written, verbal and analytical skills
Excellent case-management abilities
Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative litigation team
$150,000–$180,000 base salary, depending on experience
