Job Description

Position Overview: The Engineering Lab Manager will lead and oversee the assembly, alignment, and testing of RF/Microwave electronic components, spanning from PCB sub-assemblies to full system integrations. The role requires exceptional technical acumen, documentation expertise, and the ability to manage and support a multi-disciplinary team in a highly specialized engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assembly and Testing:

    • Develop and execute in-process test procedures and data sheets for PCA, module, and system-level testing.
    • Design and fabricate system interface test fixtures.
  2. Documentation and Compliance:

    • Analyze customer-provided documentation, including:
      • Parts/Material/Process requirements.
      • System-level testing protocols (Thermal Cycling, Thermal Vacuum, Vibration, Shock, EMI).
    • Generate critical engineering documentation, such as:
      • Failure Reports and Discrepant Material Reports (DMR).
      • Recovery Test Plans.
      • Engineering Change Notices (ECN).
      • End Item Data Packages for customer review.
      • Data management for testing records and accessibility.
  3. Test Support and Resource Management:

    • Provide technical support for engineers, technicians, and associates.
    • Manage test tools, equipment procurement, and rentals specific to each program.
  4. System Design Expertise:

    • Offer technical insights into passive and active RF/Microwave designs, including:
      • Passive components (power dividers, filters).
      • Active components (oscillators, amplifiers, phase-locked loops, mixers).
      • Temperature compensation methods (PTC and NTC thermistors).
  5. EEE Parts Selection:

    • Ensure compliance with space application standards, including component characterization, screening, traceability, derating, and radiation requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years in an engineering role with a focus on RF/Microwave systems and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Strong knowledge of RF/Microwave assembly tools and test equipment.
    • Familiarity with space-grade EEE parts and environmental testing protocols.

Preferred Skills:

  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills for data and report management.
  • Hands-on experience in designing and supporting test fixtures and tooling.
  • Proven ability to review and adhere to customer-specific performance specifications.
