About the Role
Our client, a highly regarded civil litigation firm, is seeking an experienced and driven Insurance Defense Attorney to join their team in Columbus, Ohio.
This is an excellent opportunity for a litigation attorney who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, in-office environment. You will manage a diverse caseload representing insureds and insurance carriers in matters involving first-party and third-party claims, personal injury, property damage, and general liability.
Manage all phases of insurance defense litigation from inception through resolution, including evaluation, strategy development, and trial preparation.
Draft motions, pleadings, briefs, discovery requests, and responses tailored to Ohio civil procedure.
Conduct and defend depositions of plaintiffs, witnesses, and expert presenters; represent clients in court hearings and oral arguments.
Prepare timely, detailed status reports for insurance claims adjusters and corporate clients, providing clear liability assessments and evaluations of exposure.
Represent clients effectively in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations.
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active, good-standing admission to the Ohio State Bar.
3–7+ years of dedicated civil litigation experience, with a strong focus on insurance defense, bodily injury, or general liability claims.
Proven track record handling court appearances and a strong familiarity with Columbus-area courts (Franklin County Court of Common Pleas, etc.).
Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills. Ability to work independently while managing billable hour requirements.
