Tax Manager - Pass-Through Entities & Business Owners
Location: San Diego, CA
Overview
A long-established San Diego CPA firm is seeking a Tax Manager to serve as a trusted advisor to clients and help lead complex tax engagements for partnerships, S corporations, business owners, trusts and high-net-worth individuals. You will work closely with partners, own client relationships and mentor team members. Hybrid flexibility is available.
Responsibilities
- Manage federal and state income tax engagements for individuals, partnerships, S corporations and trusts
- Review complex returns and workpapers prepared by staff, seniors and supervisors
- Serve as a primary day-to-day client contact and build long-term relationships
- Manage engagement timelines, staffing, workflow and deliverables
- Prepare and review quarterly estimates, projections and planning analyses
- Identify and implement tax planning opportunities with clients and firm leadership
- Research technical tax issues and guide engagement teams
- Coach and develop staff, seniors and supervisors
- Support practice growth and business development efforts
Qualifications
- CPA license required
- 6-9 years of progressive public accounting tax experience
- Strong individual, partnership and S corporation tax experience
- Experience with multi-state filings, business-owner planning, brokerage statements and Schedule K-1s
- Experience managing engagements and supervising tax professionals
- California tax experience (PTET, FTB compliance, apportionment) preferred
- CCH Axcess suite experience and a Master’s in taxation or accounting preferred
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
