Underground Utility Superintendent
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Underground Utility Superintendent to oversee field operations for wet utility construction projects involving water, sewer, and storm drainage systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background managing crews, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
This position will support a variety of residential, commercial, and municipal infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily field operations for underground utility construction projects.
- Oversee installation of water, sewer, and storm drainage systems.
- Coordinate field crews, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
- Ensure work is completed according to plans, specifications, and project schedules.
- Maintain a strong focus on jobsite safety and quality control.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, inspectors, engineers, and clients.
- Conduct daily planning meetings and monitor project progress.
- Identify and resolve field issues to minimize project delays.
- Maintain project documentation, reports, and production tracking.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Superintendent overseeing underground wet utility projects.
- Proven experience with water, sewer, and storm drainage installation.
- Experience working on residential, commercial, and municipal construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of underground utility construction methods, safety practices, and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- OSHA certification and utility construction experience preferred.
