Job Description

Litigation Partner – Equity Ownership Opportunity

Our firm is seeking a strong, experienced Civil or Commercial Litigator with an interest in eventually transitioning into equity ownership. The firm maintains an established client base and a diverse practice spanning Civil and Commercial Litigation, Estate Planning and Administration, Business Law, and Commercial Real Estate.

We are looking for a strong, hands-on litigator first and foremost. The firm's litigation practice covers a broad range of disputes, including commercial and business litigation, contract disputes, employment matters, commercial real estate litigation, and contested trusts and estates.

Experience in estate litigation is a plus but is not required.

The Opportunity

  • Handle and manage a diverse range of civil and commercial litigation matters from initial evaluation through resolution.
  • Develop litigation strategies, oversee discovery, handle substantive motion practice, and represent clients in court.
  • Work directly with an established client base across multiple practice areas.
  • Collaborate with attorneys handling estate planning, business, real estate, and related matters.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to less-experienced attorneys.
  • Take on increasing leadership responsibilities with the opportunity to eventually become an equity owner.

Qualifications

  • Strong substantive experience in Civil Litigation, Commercial Litigation, Business Litigation, Employment Litigation, Real Estate Litigation, or related areas.
  • Ability to independently manage litigation matters and develop effective case strategies.
  • Strong legal writing, analytical, negotiation, and courtroom skills.
  • Trial experience preferred.
  • Illinois Bar admission.
  • A collaborative approach and genuine interest in the firm's long-term success.
  • An existing book of business is not required.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Equity Ownership: A genuine opportunity for an experienced litigator who wants to become an owner and help shape the future of the firm.
  • Established Client Base: Step into an active litigation practice with existing clients and a broad range of matters.
  • Broad Litigation Exposure: Handle a variety of meaningful litigation matters rather than being confined to a single narrow practice area.
  • No Rigid Billable-Hour Requirement: The firm emphasizes quality work, accountability, client relationships, and results.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Work alongside experienced attorneys while helping strengthen and develop the firm's litigation practice.

The Ideal Candidate

We are interested in speaking with accomplished litigators who enjoy practicing law but are also thinking about the next chapter of their careers.

Whether you're an established Litigation Partner or an experienced attorney with leadership potential, the most important qualifications are strong litigation skills, the ability to contribute immediately, and a genuine desire to eventually become an equity owner.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, age, color, sex (including pregnancy), religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, military status, genetic information, or any other status protected by applicable laws or regulations. GPAC (Growing People and Companies) is an award-winning search firm specializing in placing quality professionals within multiple industries across the United States since 1990. We are extremely competitive, client-focused and realize that our value is in our ability to deliver the right solutions at the right time.
