Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and maintenance on machines; record/report on damaged, worn, or broken parts.
  • Repair and maintain industrial production equipment of all types. 
  • Able to use a voltmeter properly to identify voltage, amperage, and resistance of an electrical circuit. 
  • Install, diagnose, and repair electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical components of industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Able to read and utilize electrical schematics to diagnose electrical problems. 
  • Replace defective components and wiring and adjust mechanical parts.
  • Troubleshoot and calibrate the following properly and safely: control panels using relay logic, Cam-driven switch boxes, heat and humidity control systems, process control valves, pneumatic control systems, hydraulic control systems, metal detection systems, inkjet coding systems, electronic scaling systems, electronic meters.
  • Interface with and troubleshoot the following motor control equipment properly and safely: motor staters, run relays, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s), Servo motors, and controls.
  • Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe, quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools and reassemble equipment including packaging lines and conveyors.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical conditions of buildings does not deteriorate.
  • Inspect drives motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
  • Able to use tools ranging from common hand and power tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Diagnose electrical/mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs, as necessary.
  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  • Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the CMMS Systems.
  • Prepare records of maintenance activities in CMMS.  Records must indicate all repairs made, parts used, analysis performed and other related information.
  • Prepare and maintain records on spare parts to be able to maintain levels of spare parts inventories.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, instrumental and control systems design documentation and vendor supplied documents.
  • Perform project work and other duties as assigned.

Certification:

  • Electrical or Mechanical Technologies
  • Electrical and Instrumentation

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment as a maintenance mechanic required.
  • Background in USDA, FDA, OSHA, and CMMS preferred.
  • Strong background in Electrical, temperature controls, plumbing and packaging equipment preferred.

  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Multitask and show flexibility with last minute changes
  • Must understand and comply with all GMP’s and Food Safety requirements.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in the areas of basic mechanics, hydraulics, control valves, pneumatics, schematic diagrams, maintenance, electrical components.
  • Strong familiarity with safety programs and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Highly motivated and can handle a high volume of work with accuracy in a fast-changing environment.
  • Flexible with working hours and must be able to work any shift, any hours, weekends, and holidays as required.
