Job Description

Job Title: HR Director

The Director of Human Resources will oversee all HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, training, compliance, and benefits administration, tailored to the unique needs of the construction industry. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role will develop and implement HR strategies to attract, retain, and develop talent while fostering a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with company goals and construction industry demands.
  • Oversee recruitment and onboarding processes to attract skilled labor, project managers, and administrative staff.
  • Manage employee relations, addressing concerns, mediating conflicts, and ensuring a productive work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, OSHA regulations, and industry-specific requirements, including union agreements where applicable.
  • Administer compensation, benefits, and performance management programs to support employee retention and satisfaction.
  • Implement training and development programs to enhance skills, safety awareness, and career growth for construction personnel.
  • Maintain HR policies, procedures, and records, ensuring accuracy and legal compliance.
  • Collaborate with leadership to forecast workforce needs and support project staffing requirements.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the workforce.
  • Utilize HR software to streamline processes and track employee data.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of HR experience, with at least 3 years in the construction industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction industry labor practices, including prevailing wage, safety regulations, and workforce challenges.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with experience overseeing HR staff.
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Adaptability to manage priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
