The Plant Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading all aspects of production floor operations during assigned shifts. This role oversees personnel, production performance, safety, and quality to ensure efficient manufacturing aligned with customer specifications and company standards.
This is a hands-on leadership position focused on driving productivity, developing employees, and maintaining a safe, high-performing work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily production operations across one or multiple product lines
- Drive productivity while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and cost efficiency
- Monitor production output and adjust staffing, workflows, and resources to meet schedules and customer requirements
- Ensure all products meet customer specifications and internal quality standards
- Coordinate production schedules and prioritize work to meet shipping deadlines
- Analyze production performance and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste
- Maintain accurate production records and support reporting through ERP or other systems
- Partner with maintenance and management to address equipment needs, repairs, and uptime improvements
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety standards consistently across the shift
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Leadership & People Management
- Supervise, coach, and develop production employees to improve performance and engagement
- Train team members on proper equipment use, safety practices, and standard operating procedures
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide regular feedback
- Address employee relations issues, including discipline when necessary
- Foster a team-oriented culture focused on accountability, communication, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience
- Strong understanding of production processes, safety standards, and quality control practices
- Experience with production reporting systems or ERP platforms preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels of the organization
- Solid problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
