Mechanical Detailer – HVAC / Sheet Metal / Piping / Plumbing (BIM / Revit Required)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Detailer to join a growing mechanical contracting team specializing in HVAC, sheet metal, piping, and plumbing systems. This role is responsible for producing accurate, coordinated fabrication and installation drawings to support field operations and project execution.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical detailing experience and advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit (BIM modeling is required).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed shop drawings and coordination models for mechanical systems
- Create and modify drawings for HVAC, sheet metal, piping, and plumbing systems
- Perform clash detection and coordination using BIM processes
- Work closely with Project Managers, Field Superintendents, and fabrication teams
- Translate construction documents into accurate, buildable drawings
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and design intent
- Coordinate multi-trade layouts in BIM environments
- Maintain drawing revisions and ensure up-to-date documentation
- Support field teams with RFIs, layout clarification, and as-built updates
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical detailing or BIM coordination
- Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit (REQUIRED)
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Solid understanding of:
- HVAC systems
- Sheet metal fabrication
- Mechanical piping systems
- Plumbing systems
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment
Preferred Experience
- Experience with fabrication-level detailing (shop drawings for install teams)
- Knowledge of MEP coordination workflows
- Familiarity with Navisworks or other clash detection tools
- Prior experience with a mechanical contractor or design-build firm
- Field experience in HVAC, piping, or sheet metal installation
